My Journey

My Journey to Highland Creations

My name is Michelle Williamson and I'm the Owner/Creator of Highland Creations. I live on a little lifestyle block in Brighton, Otago with my wonderfully supportive husband Tony, our 3 dogs, 1 cat and 12 sheep.

Years ago I was diagnosed with CFS/ME which made working outside the home very challenging, needing to take many sick days off work and spending most of my days off in bed. We decided that this wasn't the life we invisaged for ourselves so after many conversations and planning we decided it best that I give up work and concentrate on my health.

Because I have always worked and enjoyed working I missed the interaction with others and the feeling of doing something useful. So a few years ago I purchased a Candle Making Kit as I love candles and also thought they would make great gifts for friends and family. I had many compliments about my candles including "These are really good, better than the expensive one's I normally buy and so much cheaper". "I haven't even lit my candle and I can smell it throughout the room". So I thought as a little side line I would make and sell candles. This would be ideal as I could rest when I needed to and make candles at my own pace. I started selling them at work places, local Markets, Gala Days etc. It wasn't long before my creative mind came up with other products that would work in with my candles. So along with my Soy Wax Candles (some in repurposed jars) we have, Soy Wax Melts, Wax Melt Warmers, Wax Melt Storage Jars, Goat's Milk Soaps, Succulents, Feather Wall Decor, Rainbow Krystals and Suncatchers.

The products I use in my Soy Wax Candles, Soy Wax Melts and Goat's Milk Soaps are all sourced within New Zealand and are individually hand poured to give that personal touch. I continuesly strive to find the best products at the most competitive pricing and are therefore able to pass these savings onto you.

I am very grateful and really appreciate you supporting me on my business venture.

Thank you, Michelle xx
